Looking for Boxing Classes in Joliet, IL? Come train with the Best Boxing Trainer in the Chicagoland area – JOSEPH AWINONGYA.
JOSEPH AWINONGYA was born in TEMA, GHANA. His love for boxing began around the time he was just 11 years old. As Joseph watched other people train and compete he could not help but to feel happy. He felt honored to learn the sport as he began to train to become a boxer himself.
His inspiration grew from watching boxing matches on television. At the age of 11 he told his parents that one day he would be signed to promoter DON KING. Naturally his parents response was telling him to stop watching so much television.
Joseph has always enjoyed working hard and feeling the sweat that it takes to become a respected, professional athlete. In due time his hard work would pay off. After being spotted sparring in Europe, he was signed as a cruiserweight boxer by none other than DON KING. Joseph “The African Assassin” went on to compile a professional record of 12-9-5 with 3 knockouts, in bouts held in Italy, the Netherlands, and the United States.
Joseph’s boxing career moved from Europe to the United States in 1999. He won eight straight bouts before losing an eight round decision.
24 years in the field and a respected trainer in the Chicagoland area, Joseph is managing pro fighters such as IBF International Welterwight Champion, Frederick Lawson, the reigning French Champion Ahmed El Moussaoui, IBO International Middlelweight Champion Osumanu Adama and several others. He works hard at finding his fighters good fights as well as managers and promoters that would pair well with them.
In addition to boxing Joseph has published Bolingbrook Magazine and Joliet Magazine.
